This is, ironically, the same arguments made by anti-abortion advocates on behalf of the unborn child.
Imagine if these sentences read:
“Unborn babies not being seen as human beings. They are discarded because they’re no longer ‘valuable’ in a patriarchal society. They still aren’t seen as equal. And I’m tired. I’m so very tired of trying to convince others that developing babies are people. That they shouldn’t be dehumanised like this. It shouldn’t even be my job to continuously have to do that. A developing baby should be treated as a person on account of being one. That’s it.”
You can clearly see how wrong it is to assume that women aren't people (as in, people deserving of equal rights under the law). Anti-abortionists hold the same viewpoint, just from another angle.
Perhaps we can all do better at recognizing each other's humanity.
