‘Social Conditioning’ Won’t Make Feminine Men Attractive

Or more evidence of my “internalized misogyny.”

The modern social climate encourages both men and women to act like each other.

Men are told that it’s okay to cry a lot, and to get in touch with their feelings, to get their eyebrows plucked and their chest waxed. To stop “mansplaining,” sit down, and let women do the talking.

Women are told that it’s great for them to sleep around. Explore! Experiment! Reclaim the word slut! Climb the corporate ladder and earn as much money as possible. Go on birth control, get an implant, have that abortion — live your best life.

But “social conditioning” cannot override what we naturally find attractive.

I highly doubt that most women would be more attracted to their boyfriends or husbands if they put on a dress.

Or makeup and heels. Or if he started crying whenever something hurt his feelings. Or if he had frequent outbursts and needed to be emotionally regulated by his partner like a mother coddling her five-year-old son. (Cue the toddler-husband trope.)

Similarly, I highly doubt most men would be more attracted to their girlfriends or wives if they started acting more like a…
