How To Love Someone With Intimacy Anxiety

Here’s the worst thing about having intimacy anxiety:

You don’t know that you have it until it’s too late.

You don’t know that you’re afraid of closeness until you’re closer to someone than you’ve ever been.

You don’t realize you’re terrified of being vulnerable until you’re in the midst of vulnerability.

You don’t fully realize that you’re afraid of love until you’re halfway there already.

What is intimacy anxiety?

Intimacy anxiety means different things for different people, but it can be broadly defined as an irrational fear of physical and/or emotional closeness.

Your brain tells you that intimacy is beautiful.

First, your brain tells you that relationships with others are a good thing, and finding true love is well worth the risk.

Then, your brain tells you that you’re with a good partner (or a good potential partner) and that you’d be crazy not to at least give them a chance.
