Men have been chasing after women’s bodies for as long as humanity has been in existence.

That hasn’t changed.

What has changed is that women have collectively lowered their standards to the point where men don’t even have to work for it anymore.

Welcome to 2021, where we live in the midst of hookup culture.

The word “hookup” is decidedly vague. It can encompass anything from making out to having sex with someone you aren’t committed to. Still, the culture we live in celebrates casual sex as a fun, carefree thing to do when you’re young and single. Regardless of gender, it affects us all.

And while it does take two to tango, hookup culture is sexist in favor of men.

Women are the gatekeepers of sex.

There is no equality when it comes to who faces the greater consequences of sexual encounters. (As much as we may wish this wasn’t true.) Because of this disparity, we are programmed to be more selective.

Biologically, women bear the greater risk because we are the ones who can get pregnant.
