“Friends With Benefits” Are Not Really Your Friends
A female friend of mine recently complained that nearly all of her guy friends were trying to have sex with her.
“I don’t know what is going on with them!” she said on the phone the other night, “like, is there something in the water?”
I told her it’s probably because one, she’s stunning, but two, because asking (or pressuring) female friends for sex does actually work — at least some of the time.
If it didn’t, guys wouldn’t try it.
Several female friends of mine have given in and engaged in these types of “friends-with-benefits” arrangements.
Not once have any of them ever been happy with how it went, overall.
Far more often, I’ve witnessed a sense of hurt, regret, and decreased self-esteem in women who choose to engage in these types of casual sexual relationships with guys who truly do not care about them.
Sometimes, it can take years to emotionally recover, making it so much harder to then go on to have a healthy, loving relationship with a man.
