Dating Apps: Yay or Nay?
Tinder. Bumble. Coffee Meets Bagel. Hinge. Grindr. Christian Mingle.
Dating apps. Ah, how we love them. Or not.
To this day, I have never made an online dating profile.
I told myself that the type of guy I’d actually want to date probably didn’t spend his free time swiping left and right on women. I imagined that he had real interests and hobbies.
And if he was looking to date, he’d be such a catch that he’d have no problem getting himself a girlfriend the good ol’ fashioned way.
All of that said, I also know some people in my personal life who have met their significant other online — and have beautiful, happy, flourishing relationships.
It works for some people.
So I started to wonder, is creating a profile actually worth a shot?
Enter COVID-19.
Obviously, the pandemic shook the world up in more ways than we can imagine, but that definitely includes the dating scene. Where the expectation was once meeting someone at school or at work, the global shut down also snuffed out that idea.
Everything became virtual. So it’s no surprise that online dating took off, too.
